Conservation Technician Services
I got involved in conservation projects while at university. After graduating in 2018 I started working as a conservation technician. I have continued that path to the present and started my own company, Sarah Liz Crabb Art Studio, in 2022 to pursue full-time freelance work with conservators across North America. I have worked as a laser cleaning supervisor, completed metals surveys, in-situ archaeological mosaic conservation, repointing, and stone consolidations. I have had the opportunity to work with object, painting, and architectural conservators who have worked across the globe in a variety of focuses.
I have worked on materials including but not limited to: wood, fabric, metal, ceramic, paper, glass, and stone. I have worked on large-scale projects, including large mural work and sculptures, and specialized conservation practices working on traditional Thankga painting conservation. I have presented at GSA and AIC and attended WACC and AIA.

St. Patrick Church Project
Conservation Technician, Decorative Painter, and Project Assistant (2024-2025)
This cultural heritage project, led by HCG (Heritage Conservation Group), involved the conservation of historic paintings, the recreation of overpainted decorative painting schemes seen in historic documentation, and indoor and outdoor gilding. SLCAS provided assistance as a conservation technician and a project assistant working on the design and execution of decorative painting elements recreated from historic documentation, including the columns behind the altar, transept panels, barrel vault apse roundels, and, most extensively, the center dome.
The Ness of Brodgar and Other Archaeological Excavations
Field School Student and Archaeologist (2015- 2024)
I started excavating in 2015 at The Ness of Brodgar Field School. I returned in 2017 to conduct research to complete my senior archaeology thesis on submerged archaeological scarring that I presented at the 2018 GSA conference in Seattle. I returned in 2023 and 2024 as a volunteer Archaeologist to complete the final years of excavation of the site that closed in 2024 after being open for nearly 20 years. I have also worked on land and maritime projects across Italy from Naples to Sicily.
US Capitol Project
Conservation Technician and Laser Cleaning Supervisor (2019)
This conservation project, overseen by the Architect of the Capitol, was carried out by various contractors, including Evergreen Architectural Arts. The work included, but was not limited to, extensive stone conservation, including stone consolidation and laser cleaning.
